ホトケと伝承型日本人タイプ Buddha
ホトケ（仏像）のお姿にも、伝承型日本人タイプが表現されています。ちなみにホトケ（仏像）は大きく四つに分類されます。
・如来 悟りを開いた者を意味します。
釈迦如来・大日如来・阿弥陀如来・薬師如来など
・菩薩 悟りを開くため修行している者を意味します。
弥勒菩薩・観音菩薩・地蔵菩薩など
・明王 人々を救うため怒りの形相で教える者を意味します。
不動明王・愛染明王・不動明王を含む五大明王など
・天 元々はインドの神々が仏教に取り入れられたホトケたち
毘沙門天・迦楼羅天・弁才天・龍王など
これら四つの分類の中で、天部と呼ばれるホトケ（仏像）が、伝承型日本人タイプに関係します。
例えば、迦楼羅天 インド神話の神鳥である「ガルーダ」が仏教に取り入れられホトケとなりました。
見開いた目、尖がった口など、その姿は、天狗に非常に似ています。
迦楼羅天（かるらてん）と天狗、その形と行動、物語には、非常に類似性があるのです。
つまり、迦楼羅天は、『導タイプ』です。
Buddha and the traditional Japanese type
The appearance of Hotoke (Buddha statues) also reflects the traditional Japanese type. Hotoke (Buddha statues) can be broadly classified into four types.
・Tathagata: Represents one who has attained enlightenment.
Shaka Nyorai, Dainichi Nyorai, Amitabha Nyorai, Yakushi Nyorai, etc.
・Bodhisattva: Represents one who is training to attain enlightenment.
Maitreya Bodhisattva, Kannon Bodhisattva, Jizo Bodhisattva, etc.
・Myo-o: Represents one who teaches with an angry expression in order to save people.
・Fudo Myo-o, Aizen Myo-o, the Five Great Wisdom Kings, including Fudo Myo-o, etc.
・Ten: Originally Indian deities adopted into Buddhism.
Bishamonten, Garudaten, Benzaiten, Ryuo, etc.
Of these four classifications, Hotoke (Buddha statues) known as the Tenbu (Heavenly Sphere) are related to the traditional Japanese type.
For example, Garuda, a divine bird from Indian mythology, was adopted into Buddhism and became a Buddha.
Its appearance, with its wide-open eyes and pointed mouth, is very similar to that of a Tengu.
There are great similarities between the form, behavior, and story of Garuda and Tengu.
